Please note that I am unable to provide evaluations of papers or manuscripts unless submitted through a professional journal.

Who am I?

I am a professor of physics in the Department of Physics at the University of Surrey. I also hold the University Chair in the Public Engagement in Science.

First and foremost of course I am a husband (to Julie) and father (to David and Kate).

My main research area is in nuclear reaction theory and quantum few-body methods to study the structure of light atomic nuclei. My current interest is in the properties of new types of exotic nuclei containing neutron halos.

I am a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and a trustee and member of Council of the British Association for the Advancement of Science.

My cv (updated October 2005).

I have written several popular science books, which you can check out on Amazon by typing in "Al-Khalili"

I should point out that I only do physics in my spare time. My full time occupation is following the greatest football team on Earth.

WATC COE

[This is a reference to a popular song on the Leeds terraces: We Are The Champions - Champions of Europe. Well, we did win the UEFA Cup (the then Fairs Cup) in 1968 and 1971, not to mention our unlucky final in the European cup of 75 against Bayern Munich!!!]

We'll be back. Oh yes, my friends, we'll be back!
